We saw this very interesting, or should we say unusual story and photo of the Jersey Shore crew on Wall Street.  Yes, correct, I said that Jersey Shore: http://www.metro.us/us/article/2010/07/28/06/4614-82/index.xml.

 We got to thinking, that with all the shampooing, blow drying, hair gelling, fragrance applying, hair removing, skin bronzing, suntan spraying, moisturizing, teeth whitening, eyebrow tweezing … well you get the idea… that occurs during an episode we thought we would see just who makes all this stuff.   This group alone might be able to keep the cosmetic sector afloat, so we thought we would do a quick survey of some of the small companies in the field.  The small-caps below are a one-stop shopping spree for Snooki, “The Situation,” JWow and the rest of the gang!

 Denver-based Enhance Skin Products (EHSK.OB, http://www.visibleyouth.com/), a tiny $3 million micro-cap company, develops and markets cosmeceutical products under the Visible Youth name. Its products include Revitalizing Formula for the face, Revitalizing Eye Zone Gel, and Healing Complex, a formula to treat skin following a professional skin resurfacing procedure.  It was recently trading at its 52-week low of 0.06, but has traded as high as $0.60 this year.  It trades about 26,000 shares a day.

 Las Vegas-based Skinvisible (SKVI.OB, http://www.skinvisible.com/) develops and manufactures topical polymer-based delivery system technologies and formulations for combining hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer emulsions. Its Invisicare, a polymer delivery vehicle that allows normal skin respiration and perspiration, is used in antimicrobial hand sanitizer lotions, suncare products, skincare moisturizers, and sunless tanning products, as well as in various dermatology products for various skin disorders. The company also provides antibacterial/antimicrobial hand sanitizer formulations that offer skincare solutions for the healthcare, food service, industrial, cosmetic, and salon industries, as well as for personal use in the retail marketplace. It was recently trading at $0.07, on volume of 3400 shares.  Its 52-week range is $0.06 to $0.25, and has a market cap of $6.2 million.

 Based in East Rutherford, NJ CCA Industries (NYSE Amex:CAW, http://www.ccaindustries.com/) manufactures and sells health and beauty aid products primarily in the United States and Canada. The company offers oral health care teeth whitening products, skin care products, nail treatments, pre and after-shave products dietary green tea products, and anti-oxidant dietary products, including chewing gums. It also provides depilatories, foot-care products, sun-care products, shampoos, fragrances and perfumes, topical analgesic products, and scar diminishing products. It was recently trading on light volume of 1100 shares at $5.15.  Its 52-week range is $3.74 to $6.39, and has a market cap of $36 million.

 Fort Lauderdale-based Parlux Fragrances (NasdaqGS:PARL, http://www.parlux.com/), creates, designs, manufactures, distributes, and sells fragrances and beauty related products worldwide. It also offers body lotions, creams, shower gels, deodorants, soaps, and dusting powders. In addition, the company provides watches, handbags, purses, and small leather goods under the Paris Hilton brand. It offers its products under Paris Hilton, GUESS?, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Miller, XOXO, Ocean Pacific, Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, and babyGUND brands on a licensee basis. The company markets its products primarily through specialty stores, national department stores, chain drug stores, mass merchandisers, perfumeries, and pharmacies. It was last trading at $2.13, down slightly on light volume of 1600 shares.  It has a market cap of $44 million. Its 52-week range is $1.52 to $2.61.

 Physicians Formula Holdings (NasdaqGS:FACE, http://www.physiciansformula.com/) based in Azusa, CA develops, markets manufactures, and distributes cosmetics for the mass market channel. The company offers face and eye makeup products comprising face powders, bronzers, concealers, blushes, foundations, eye shadows, eye liners, brow makeup, and mascaras. It sells its products to various retailers in the food retail, drug chain, mass volume, specialty retail, and wholesale channels in the United States, Canada, and Australia. It was recently trading at $3.64 down $0.30 on light volume of 3,600 shares.  Its 52-week range is $1.50 to $4.23, and has a market cap of $49 million.
